Who shall know what is, but he who seeks it?
Who shall know the answer to a question but he who asks it?
Knowledge is power, they say... but even more, knowledge is knowledge.

The Libararian's Books
Thye sygnes of thye Enslauvemente (excerpts)
The Undead are as follows.
1. Vampires (see Corwyth Bestiary for information on
these).
2. Yeth-hounds - These are hounds which have no heads,
appearing as soon as the moon appears. They are animated by the spirits
of murdered children, and attack solitary travellers. To kill one is not
recommended, as the soul of the child is then lost for ever. Ideally,
the adventurer should attempt to free the trapped spirit. Information
on how to do this should be sought from the magic-users in Corwyth’s House
of Bedazzled Scrolls.
3. Zombies - Their minds are dead, and they themselves
are controlled by outer forces, human or un-human. They can be destroyed
relatively easily, by normal physical means, but the Undead force remains.
The only way to relieve a zombie from its enchantment is to kill the controlling
human agent. If the controller is not human, then the controller must
be overcome by spiritual or magical means.
4. Re-animated or resurrected dead - This may be either
good or bad. We know of one case in Corwyth. The good doctor, of course,
is that case in point - Doctor Boniface. A living skeleton, indeed, quite
fascinating! Once a creature is re-animated, they are virtually alive
again, and so can be considered Undead only the very broadest sense.
5. Ghouls - while not technically undead, these creatures
are the slaves of vampires who feed on their blood, and are quite mindless.
These ghouls can never be freed or released from their bondage. They can
only be destroyed - by the same means as vampires.
6. Mummies - mummified living creatures who die in their
wrappings, and have had powerful spells chanted over them. After a time,
the mummies become Undead, and rise from their resting place. They are
powerful indeed. We are fortunate that Corwyth has no known cases of mummies
at all, although I must say I would not hazard a guess about whether they
exist in the Ruins... There is a Mummy purification rite, but I do not
have a copy of it, unfortunately.
7. Rusalki - drowned maidens who were murdered or committed
suicide, usually after betrayal by their beloved, and quite often after
a marriage. Rusalki can be released is the betrayer is punished, or if
a wrong that has been done is righted, and then a small ceremony is conducted
to free the Undead Rusalka in question.
8. Necromancers - many of these become Undead through
their own magical doings and pacts with various dark entities. The forces
they seek to control turn in worm-like fashion and control THEM. These
powerful creatures must be defeated by magic only.
